Bhograi, Oct 15: On Friday, due to a massive explosion, a woman identified as Mamata was charred to death while her husband Sapan Behera and daughter-in-law Minu sustained grievous burn injuries at Ganeswarpur village under Bhograi Block in Balasore district.

As per reports, after hearing a massive explosion on Friday afternoon, the villagers rushed to Sapan’s house. The villagers spotted a massive fire outbreak at the site. They informed the fire officials as they failed to douse off the fire.

Even though the fire was brought under control later, Mamata was charred to death by then, while Sapan and Minu were rescued and rushed to the hospital as they sustained grievous injuries.

On receiving the information, Ananta Das, BJD chief whip and local MLA visited the village and expressed his condolences towards the kin of the bereaved family and also assured that government help will be provided to them.

As the Behera family runs a cracker manufacturing business since generations, it is suspected that the incident might have happened due to cracker explosion or due to the explosion of cooking gas cylinder. However, the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
