Bhubaneswar, August 10: Today, while felicitating 17 year old junior para-athlete Jayanti Behera at the State Secretariat, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a cash reward of Rs 12 lakh for her.
Bringing glory to the state, Jayanti won two medals at a recently-concluded World Para Athletics Junior Championships in Nottwil, Switzerland.
The cash reward will be given to her on the occasion of National Sports Day on August 29.
Jayanti struck gold for India in the 400mts clocking 1:01 minutes. She also won a silver in the 200mts during the four-day event, which concluded on August 6. Bishnu Prasad Mishra is being training Jayanti since the last six years.
In today’s occasion, Minister of Sports and youth Services Chandra Sarathi Behra was also present.
