Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: Jajpur District administration has provided 85 acres of land for the construction of 108 feet tall statue of Lord Buddha in Neulapur Hill.
The project will cost Rs 15 crore. The tourism department will start the construction work of the statue , guest house and museum soon, sources said.
Proper roads will also be built for the tourists to visit the famous Buddhist sites of Ratnagiri, Lalitagiri and Udayagiri in the district.
Notably, Jajpur has a rich Buddhist heritage, with several important sites associated with the life of Lord Buddha, which are of great interest for followers of Buddhism the world over. The statue of Buddha will showcase and project the Buddhist heritage of the state.
