Keonjhar, Sept 28: Normal life in the Keonjhar district has been disrupted today due to the 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the United Action Committee demanding fulfillment of their 6-point charter of demands.

The demands includes, expedition of Keonjhar medical college work, unitary university status to Dharanidhara Autonomous College, Anandpur to Champua rail connection and setting up of mega steel plant in the district.

Due to the bandh, shops and establishments remained closed. Vehicular traffic was also affected due to the road blockade staged by the members of the committee on the National Highway here while they also staged rail roko at Keonjhar railway station this morning. However, emergency services have been excluded from the bandh call.

Notably, a dharna had been staged by the committee from September 23 to 27 in front of the district Collector’s office to press their demands. However, the body gave a bandh call today alleging that the state government did not pay any heed towards the fulfillment of their demands.
