Paradip, Mar 22: Yesterday a 12-year old girl got drowned in the swimming pool of the posh officers’ club of Paradip Port Trust here.
The name of the girl is Aparna Priyadarsahi a student of class six of a local school. To a surprise, the incident happened when she was learning swimming from her instructor. The death of the girl has stumbled everyone across the port as such a mishap at the posh club is said to take place for the very first time. The drowning of the girl despite the presence of the instructor has raised safety concerns at the club’s swimming pool. The victim’s father Sankar Swain who works in Paradip Port rushed with his daughter to the government-run Biju Memorial Hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. A case under the Criminal under CrPC 174 (unnatural death) has been sued. This was informed by the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Paradip, Gadadhar Pradhani.
