Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: April 28: Odisha paid tributes to Utkala Gourava Madhusudan Das on his 168th Birth Anniversary on April 28.
Odisha Assembly also celebrated the birth day of the architect of modern Odisha. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Speaker Niranjan Pujari and Deputy Speaker Sananda Marandi with Ministers, MLAs gathered near the statue of Utkala Gourava Madhusudan Das and paid tribute garlanding flowers on the statue.
Many organisations of Twin-city Cuttack and Bhubaneswar celebrated the occasion with variety of programmes to remember the great soul. Social organisations like Utkala Sammilani, Utkala Sahitya Samaj, Sailabala Women’s College and the district administration of Cuttack have organised various programs at his cemetery and residence on Mission Road in the city.
Considered one of the foremost modern thinkers of our country and the architect of modern Odisha, Madhusudhan Das played a vital role in his capacity as a lawyer, political reformer, litterateur and social worker. He played a major role in the formation of the separate Odisha state.
