Berhampur, Dec 19: Around 19 women members of a Self Help Group (SHG) sustained injuries as the office floor of the office of Pittala Gram Panchayat under Sheragada Block in Ganjam district of Odisha collapsed. They are all admitted to Hinjili Health centre and later 5 of them are referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
The incident happened at around 7 am in the morning when the members of the SHG reached after taking out a cleanliness drive. It is stated by the locals that, the office room was washed away during the time of cyclonic storm ‘Phailin’ and was repaired further. It is alleged, the office floor collapsed due to poor construction work and maintenance. Meanwhile, BDO, Tehsildar and block chairman rushed to the spot and started investigation.
