Two elephants were killed as a Goods Train hit them near Bhusandapur Railway Station under Tangi Forest Division in Khordha district on Saturday.

It is said, at around 8 pm, eight elephants were trying to cross the railway tracks near the Bhusandapur level crossing, when the Train hits them.

One Elephant died on the spot and two more injured, said eyewitnesses. The dead body of one more elephant was found nearby Bhusandapur forest.

Team from Tangi Forest Division had been to the spot immediately and seized the carcass of one elephant near the tracks. The body of one more elephant was recovered from the forest today morning by forest officials.
