2 taken behind bars for charge of murder and rape

Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: The death of the girl, whose body was found under Jatamundia bridge in Banki on August 2, which had left the police puzzled, has finally been solved by the police as the accused driver, Santosh Sahu and conductor, Bibhuti Rout of the bus have been arrested for first abducting the girl and later raping her and dumping her body in Mahanadi river in Cuttack after murdering her. The victim’s mother demanded stringent punishment to the culprits.

As per sources, the victim who was a resident of Gourangpur near Athgarh in Cuttack district, was allegedly abducted in a bus and was raped by the driver and conductor at Ratagarh. Later, the two murdered her and threw her body into Mahanadi and fled from the spot. The police recovered the body which was in a half-naked state and after undergoing preliminary investigation concluded that it was case of rape and murder and successfully arrested the accused after getting a clue from the victim’s family.

It’s stated that an affair had been developed between the accused bus driver and the victim.   

But when the girl insisted him to tie the knot with her, the driver as had no such intention, planned to eliminate her.
