Bhubaneswar, June 30: Post endless enquiry and investigation, Odisha’s noted comedian turned politician, Tatwa Prakash Sathpathy aka Papu PomPom was finally arrested by the Commisionerate of the twin city Cuttack-Bhubaneswar today from Nandighosa Apartment, Puri.
He was into the highly controversial case of promoting casting couch and also being accused for initiating sexual provocation to a minor girl. His colleague, Pradeep Swain has also been taken under custody by the authority in the charge of getting involved with the culprit.
Due to the chance of a huge crowed to get gathered in front of the police station, the accusatory has not been directly brought to the same. At first, he will be taken to the hospital for medical tests and then to the court and after the final hearing, will be brought to the police station.
This actor is charged of 354 (A), 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the POCSO Act. The news of arrest will be formally announced later by the Police Officials.
It should be recalled that Tatwa Prakash Satpathy had got into trouble when the victim had filed a complaint through Khurdha District Child Welfare Committee at the Mahila Police Station stating that the actor had sexually abused her on the promise of offering a role in the Oriya Cine Industry. Following this allegation, the police had demanded him to appear before the court at the stipulated date, but as the officials reached out to interrogate him, he escaped and was nowhere to be found for quite a few days.
The actor has also been thrown out from his BJD party on Wednesday. He had contested election through this party during the 2014 general polls from Champua Constituency of Keonjhar District. Initially the actor has also had his hand in the OSCAR Chit Fund Group for which enquiry was already on the move and this incident of shame and vulgarity on the part of him added more to it.
