Soro, Aug 10: In an attempt to resolve the scuffle between two clashing student groups of UN College in Soro in Balasore district, the laboratory assistant of the college identified as Ratikanta Behera died while the Principal, Bijay Mohapatra was injured in the mishap.
According to a professor of the college, there was a clash between two groups of students yesterday after which a disciplinary committee was set up. The committee suggested to convene a staff council meeting today for which today’s classes were suspended. However, even before the staff council meeting, few students staged dharana in front of the Principal’s office. While the other group of students demanded to know why the agitating students were not asked to leave the college even after the suspension of the classes, a scuffle broke out between the two groups that left Ratikanta dead and the Principal injured.
After the scuffle, he was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
