Baripada, Aug 19: A class XI girl student, named Suchitra Pradhan committed suicide in her hostel room at Jawahar Navodaya School in Betanati, Mayurbhanj on Thursday.
As per sources, the incident happened when all were busy celebrating Raksha Bandhan, while Suchitra went to her hostel room instead and took the extreme step. Though she was taken to the hospital, the doctors declared her dead on arrival.
According to the father of the deceased, Prahallada Pradhan’s statement, he was informed by the School authority that she had been admitted to hospital, but when he reached the hospital, the doctors told him that she was dead.
While others were busy in Raksha Bandhan celebration at the school, Suchitra went to her hostel room and committed suicide. The actual reason behind her move can be ascertained only after the completion of investigation, the Vice-Principal of the School, B. Sita Laxmi said.
Police has started to probe into the matter to find out the actual reason due to which she committed suicide.
