Talcher, Sept 1: The process of improvising the fertilizer plant at Talcher would start by November this year, informed Union Fertilizers and chemical Minister Ananth Kumar on Thursday.
This work will be jointly carried out by the ministry of Fertilizers and Chemical, ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, ministry of Coal and ministry of Energy.
The foundation stone for this work will be laid by November. The plant would run on Coal-to-Liquid energy, Kumar informed to media persons.
Talcher Fertiliser Company, a joint venture company has been set up. The coal gasification technology for the plant will be finalized very soon. After the finalization, Engineers India Ltd (EIL) will be appointed for project management coordination, informed Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister.
The country requires 80 lakh metric tonnes of urea fertiliser. After the plant revival, 13 lakh metric tonnes of urea fertilizer can be produced per annum from the plant.
