Bhubaneswar, Sept 22: As per the decision of 87th Annual Meeting of the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), the renowned Barabati Stadium has got green signal to host a test match. This was announced by the BCCI at its annual general body meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Informing about this, Ashirbad Behera, chief of Odisha Cricket Association said that after 22 years, the Barabati Stadium was accorded Test venue status.

It may be noted that, even though the stadium had got a green signal from a BCCI team after the verification of infrastructure to hold test matches, the bottle throwing incident which had happened last year on October 5, during T20 match between India and South Africa, the BCCI held back its decision.

Till now only two test matches have been played at this stadium in 78 years. The last match was held between New Zealand and India in 1995-96.
