Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: On Sunday, in a preparatory meet held at the Bhubaneswar headquarters before the Janasamparka Yatra on October 2, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik addressed party leaders and accused that the BJD led NDA or the Congress led UPA are not taking care of the people of Odisha and the negligence of Central government is obstructing the progress of the State. He also said that this fight will be continued for the better interest of the people of the State.
Notably, keeping the upcoming panchayat polls in view and to make a better understanding with people, on Friday the State Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had announced to extend the annual Janasamparka Yatra for a month. This month will be observed as the “Empowerment and Awareness” month. It’s stated that the Jana Sampark Pada Jatra is conducted by the party every year from the day of Gandhi Jayanti and continues till the birth anniversary of legendary leader, Jay Prakash Narayan on Nov 2 here in Odisha’s capital city. In this period the party’s performances and achievements comes to the fore. This program forms a part of the year-long celebration of Biju Patnaik birth centenary. During the campaign, the 80th year celebration of formation of Odisha will also be celebrated by the party.
Pratap Jena, party Spokespersons had informed to media persons that the Yatra is organized to understand the issues of people. During the campaign, various welfare schemes, Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana for higher eduation, Biju Kanya Ratna Yojana, Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, Nirman Shramik Pension Yojana, Mamata Yojana, Biju Setu Yojana, Odisha Model School, reduction of stamp duty for women by 1% during land registration, seven proposals for setting up of medical colleges in backward regions and Anwesa Yojana for SC/ST children that are initiated by the state government will be publicized among the people and Central negligence on Mahanadi and Polavaram issues will be the Party’s key agenda during the campaign.
Chief Minister also said that the stoppage of Central Assistance to the state under eight schemes, forcing wheat in place of rice under NFSA and making the Aadhar card mandatory for SC/ST students are entirely anti-state and Federal Policy by the Centre. The party has been serving people of the State and stood with them, he said, encouraging the party workers to strengthen the party at grass root level. He also urged the party workers to meet the common people and make contact with them during the entire period. The achievements of the State government will be brought in front of the people and a report card will be given to them which will depict the achievement of promises which had been made in the 2004 election.
Under its people connect programme, local units of the party have been instructed to celebrate Gopabandhu Jayanti on October 9 and Loknayak Jayprakash Jayanti on October 11 respectively.
