2nd National Conference on CPMAI Concludes

Bhubaneswar: October 09:The Department of Mining & Engineering in association with Society of Mining and & Exploration organised ‘2nd National Conference on Current Practices in Mining & Allied Industries (CPMAI) 2018 at Govt. Collage of Engineering (GCE), Keonjhar. The two days conference concluded on 7th October 2018.

 Sanjeev Das, Sr. Vice President,Head- Mining(BU), IMFA participated in the conference as chief guest. Addressing the gathering he said : ” Efficient management and sustainable development are two key elements, which need to be addressed for optimal utilization of natural resources. The challenges for development of mining include scientific mining, conservation and proper utilization of low grade mineral resources, management of mining waste and above all, the environmental protection. Some of the challenges, which need to focus upon, include innovative mining technology, advances in explosives and blasting, waste utilization and back-filling technology of voids, computer simulation and mine automation, mine safety and risk management, environmental impacts and remediation etc”.

Other eminent guests present during the conference were; Prof. B S Sastry, Prof. Dept. of Mining Engineering IIT, Kharagpur, Dr. S K Singh, Chief Scientist, CSIR-CIMFR, Dhanbad, Sri Kiran Sankar Sahoo, Retd. Wing Commander and Prof. Trilochan Sahoo, Principal, GCE, Keonjhar.
