Bhubaneswar: April 23: Prafulla Kar, Alok Kanungo and Sadasiv Pradhan selected for the prestigious Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Samman. While Kar will receive the award in the Sugam Sangeet (light song)) category, Kanungo and Pradhan will receive the award for Odissi and Chhau dance respectively.
Besides two Odiya artistes Sukumar Tudu from Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district and Dhyanananda Panda of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district selected for Bismillah Khan Yuva Samman.
The Akademi announced the name of 36 artistes selected for the award in the presence of the representatives from 30 states and 20 eminent artistes. The selected artistes will be awarded by the President of India in a special function in New Delhi.
