Cuttack, Dec 20: For having a glimpse of the ‘Air Show’ organized by the Indian Air Force (IAF), around three lakh people are to gather on Dec 23 in Cuttack and so the district administration has made required arrangements for the same.The state government has earmarked a provision of Rs 65 lakh to be spent on the show. Hence, the state government has announced that all schools and colleges in Cuttack would be shut keeping in mind the air show event. This decision was taken at a meeting held at the State Secretariat here presided over by the Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi. Heads of various departments and Air Force were present in the meeting.The administration has also taken step for making live commentary. The 40-minute air show is going to be held at the Khannagar Park to commemorate the birth centenary of legendry leader late Biju Patnaik who was one of the best pilots of his time.
This was informed by Vishal Dev, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Sports and Youth Service Department. It’s also stated that the IAF officials will be performing several dangerous acts including parachute dropping within radius of five km from Khannagar Park over the Kathajodi river bank. 100 pilots, 10 IAF officials of Surya Kiran Aerobatics, Saranga Aerobatics and Akash Ganga Aerobatics teams of IAF will take part in this stunt show with 6 helicopters and 10 fighter aircraft. In order to inspect and supervise the venue of the air show, on Sunday, Police Commissioner YB Khurania, DCP Sanjeev Arora and top officials of Cuttack district administration including Collector Nirmal Mishra made a visit to the venue.
