Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: The Raahgiri days in state capital, which is all set to resume from November 27, has been renamed as ‘Patha Utsav’, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena today. The BMC had earlier floated a contest inviting citizens to suggest a new name for Raahgiri.
The Raahgiri day, which started from January 17 this year and was observed on 27 Sundays after then, was suspended as rainfall during the monsoon acted as a major barrier in mass gathering. The organizers are planning to come up with a new avatar and with new ideas like a talent hunt and storey-telling sessions by well-known Ollywood personalities Akash Das Nayak and Anu Choudhury. City-based organisation Bakul Foundation, which has taken innovative steps to popularise library movement in and around Bhubaneswar and across the State, a regular participant at all the Raahgiris, will come up with story-telling sessions.Raahgiri as an event was basically adopted to promote non-motorised transport through cycling, walking, various physical activities, yoga, performances by students and artists to promote art and craft-making, health check-up camps and activities to engage various age groups and
