Gang rape case: Orissa HC upheld SAT’s verdict; relief to Pipli IIC in Pipli, Odisha

Cuttack, Jan 10: In connection with the Pipli gang rape case, today, at the Pipili police station, a major relief blow came to the Inspector in Charge, (IIC) Amulya Champatiray, when the Orissa High Court (HC) approved the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT)’s verdict on the IIC’s dismissal. It’s stated that the Odisha government had moved to the Orissa HC to challenge SAT’s verdict. Ashok Das, counsel of Champatiray, stated to the media that the Orissa HC has approved the verdict of SAT. It clearly said that without initiating departmental proceedings, no government employee can be dismissed. Earlier, the state government had dismissed the Pipili IIC Champatiray from his job in relation to the rape incident.
