Nayagarh, Jan 12: Yesterday a mobile phone battery exploded at Ladukeshwar upper primary school under Sarankula police limits here thus injuring three class-III students including a girl, while they were playing with it. Out of the three, two have been admitted to the Nayagarh district headquarters hospital and the girl is being treated at the Godipada Local Health Centre.

It’s stated that a student had kept the discarded mobile battery inside his bag. The battery went off suddenly when he connected a bulb with the unused battery, thus erupting into an explosion that created a heavy noise in the class room. All this was said by Biranchi Nayak, the school headmaster. Two boys sustained injuries on their hands and eyes.

As of now, no school staff has been held responsible for the incident.
