Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: After the Centre gave its approval, the Odisha government has extended the Kharif season paddy procurement deadline to Apr 30. The paddy procurement is being conducted at 29 districts in Odisha except Kandhamal where it will take a week’s time to resume. The Joint Director of the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare department, Bijay Kumar Prusty, has said that 17.45 lakh tonne of paddy costing Rs 2,562 crore has been procured from 29 districts till now and out of Rs 2,562 crores, Rs 2,021 crore has been transferred to the concerned farmers account.
