Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: The list of eligible candidates for the upcoming three-tier panchayat polls in Odisha will be announced today by the State Election Commission.
According to reports 2,20,789 candidates have filed nomination papers for the upcoming panchayat polls, which is scheduled to begin from February 13.
While 3,880 candidates have filed papers for zilla parishad member positions, 33,348 for Sarpanch seats, about 27,475 candidates for Panchayat Samiti members and 1,56,086 for ward member positions have applied.
While Balasore has received maximum nominations with 16,054, jharsugada has received the least with 1908, says a statement received from the SEC.
