Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: In a tragic incident, a tourist bus carrying 65 passengers lost control and fell off the Dhauli hill injuring 36, on the outskirts of the capital early this morning.
According to reports, the injured were rushed to the capital hospital, while six of them who sustained serious injuries were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack. Seven people, who were admitted here at the capital hospital are by now stated to be stable, said sources.
Notably, the tourist bus, from West Bengal, on returning came to Dhauli from Puri. While getting down off Dhauli, the vehicle lost control of brake failure and skidded to fall off the hill. While passerby and other tourists tried to stop the bus, but all in vain. Later the fire brigade and police personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the people after breaking opening the windows, with the help of the locals.
However, the Khurda collector rushed to the hospital and inquired about the injured and condition of those belonging to the neighbouring state. In the meanwhile, the state government has declared free treatment to all the injured.
