Sundergarh/Baripada, Mar 7: Yesterday, two persons were killed after a truck hit another stationary truck from behind at Barpalli under Hemgiri Police limits in Sundergarh. After hitting the stationary vehicle, the truck lost control and overturned after running over a pedestrian. The pedestrian and driver of the ill-fated truck died on the spot. The dead truck driver has been identified as Santosh Mahato, a resident of Nuadihi in Jharkhand. However, the identity of the pedestrian is yet to be ascertained.

Similarly, three persons died after a scooter collided head on with a car near Bankaban square near Amarda Road  in Mayurbhanj on late Sunday night. The deceased have been identified as Gopal Krushna Das, Mochiram Soren and Biswajit Giri. All of them belong to Rasagobindpur village. Two others were admitted to Baripada hospital in a critical condition. The accident occurred while the victims were returning home after watching drama. Aggrieved over the incident, locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased and injured victims.
