Bhubaneswar, Mar 18: Providing training to its non-gazetted staffs, the East Coast Railway is soon going to open a multi-disciplinary training centre at Cuttack. Since the ECoR’s establishment in 2003, the training centre will be the first of its kind in the state. At present, the non-gazetted staff of the ECoR are being trained at the Zonal Railway Training institute at Tata Nagar, said sources.
The centre which is proposed to be constructed at Jagatpur in Cuttack district and is said to be over by 2018, is estimated at a cost of Rs 19 crore. The centre will also have a hostel along with staff quarters and mess in he campus.
Notably, though the project was announced by the former railway minister Mamata Banerjee in the 2010-11 Union Budget along with 3 others at Cooch Behar, Malda and Jabalpur, the budget for Jagatpur was sanctioned this year, said sources.
