Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: As much as 42 per cent of the Below Poverty Line families continue to live without electricity in State.
This was revealed in a reply of Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das in State Assembly on Tuesday.
Das told the House, in reply to a question of Opposition BJP MLA Dillip Ray, that 18,45,894 BPL families out of a total 44,37,182 such families have not been provided electricity connections to their houses in the State.
In Kendrapara district a maximum 86 per cent BPL families have been provided electrical connection followed by 83 per cent BPL households in Nayagarh and Angul districts, he said.
In Ganjam district the percentage in lowest 31 while in Nuapada and Puri districts it is 33.
However, Koraput registers a 46 per cent power connection to BPL families.
