446 Indians languishing in Pak, 4 other nations even after serving sentence

New Delhi, Dec 17: As many as 446 Indians were in prisons or deportation centers in five countries, including Pakistan, even after completion of their sentences, government told Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Replying to a written question, Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh also said Indian missions/posts regularly take with the respective foreign governments the early release of Indian prisoners who have completed their sentences.

As per information available, 446 Indian nationals are in prisons/deportation centers in five countries i.e Bahrain (7), Bangladesh (18), Malaysia (246), Pakistan (174) and Syria (1), even after completion of their sentences, the minister added.
