Cuttack, Feb 6: Yesterday the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has unanimously decided to constitute a five-member internal managing committee to manage activities of the OCA. The decision to constitute the same was taken at an emergency meeting of the OCA at its office in Barabati Stadium premises here, that was presided by former OCA secretary, Asirbad Behera, president Ranjib Biswal and all the 67 former members of the OCA Council.
This committee would be led by Dhiren Palai, joint secretary of Bhadrak District Cricket Association, as its chairman, along with secretary of Sambalpur District Cricket Association, Rabi Narayan Pratihari of Puri Cricket Association, Janardan Das of Keonjhar District Cricket Association and Saraoj Sahu of Nuapada District Cricket Association as other members. It would look into all the responsibilities and all the daily activities of the OCA, will manage the financial activities of OCA and organise upcoming tournaments till the next election of the OCA Council or after the implementation of the Lodha Committee recommendations.
Notably, based on the Lodha Committee recommendations, the SC had taken out a directive following which OCA secretary Asirbad Behera and president Ranjib Biswal and other office-bearers of the Association had to step down from their posts. However, with their exit, problems started to arise on order to handle the day-to-day activities of OCA. But if sources are to be believed, even if the committee will look after all the activities of OCA, Behera would control from the top as majority of committee members are his supporters.
