86 die in attack on Ankara peace rally

Ankara:

At least 86 people were killed on Saturday in two explosions when leftist and pro- Kurdish activists were preparing for an anti-government peace rally here.

The attack, near Ankara’s main train station, was the deadliest in the city’s history.

Bodies of the slain activists were seen strewn across the ground after the blasts.

Sixty-two people died at the scene of the blasts and 24 more succumbed in hospital.

As many as 186 people are injured in the attack.
