Puri, Mar 24: Yesterday Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central Zone, AB Ota upon completion of meeting in the Circuit House here, informed that a nine member committee, under the chairmanship of Puri Collector Arvind Agrawal will investigate the Swargadwar land grab issue and submit its report in seven days. Under Secretary to RDC with experience in settlement and land officer of the Shankaracharya mutt will be members of the committee. In the meeting, Puri Collector Arvind Agrawal, Puri SP, ADM and Settlement Officer were present.
Puri Collector Arvind Agrawal had informed the media that Puri Shankaracharya has been asked to submit the necessary papers required for estimating the actual area of land. He also stated to the media that investigations are on to know under what circumstances the land transfer took place. As per primary probes, some part of the land had been transferred on permission by Shankarachary and a sale deed is also been registered in this regard. Agarwal further stated that only after going through all the case records, appropriate measures would be undertaken in order to get back the 16-acre land. The power of attorney will be scrutinized based on which the sale deed was registered. Shankaracharya mutt will also be asked to help in finding out whether the documents are genuine or forged.
On the other hand, Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, in a Press meet slammed the Odisha government alleging carelessness of the government, aimlessness of the administration and the lackadaisical attitude of the chief ministers of Odisha are responsible for such plight of the mutt. Swami Nischalananda also declared that the government should understand that four branches of the mutt are captured by unruly elements with power of the Religious Endowments Act. He alleged that the government has always tried to destroy the mutt and the administration has also insulted the mutt due to the lackadaisical attitude of the Chief Minister.
