9 Odia Migrant Labourers Rescued from Gujarat

Rayagada: The district administration rescued 9 migrant labourers from Rayagada district of Odisha from Gujarat. They had gone to work gone to work in a company in Gujarat. They had been forcefully detained there by the employer company.

After receiving information about this, the District Labour Department, through the efforts of Rayagada Collector Parul Patawari, contacted the Gujarat government on behalf of the State Government’s Labour Department and rescued them and sent them to Rayagada by train.

Out of the rescued workers, 6 are from Bisamkatak block and 3 from Kashipur block, informed District Labour Officer Gopal Mangaraj.

The incident is currently under investigation. The broker (Sardar) involved in this is being identified. Action is being taken to pay the outstanding wages of the workers.
