Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: The Central Government has urgued the State Government to go for auction more number of Mines as soon as possible to ensure greater transparency.

In a letter to the State Government, Union Mines Secretary Balvinder Kumar said that though the Odisha Government had promised to ensure auction of 12 iron ore mines blocks in the first phase of e-auction, it has put a single block for auction so far.

Recently, the State Government has notified for Ghoraburahani-Sagasahi East iron ore mines in Koira circle of Sundargarh district with a reserve of around 100 million tones for auction.

Earlier, the State Government had proposed to auction two mines, Jhunka-Patriposi block and Ghoraburahani-Sagasahi East in the first phase. While the required documents for e-auction of the Ghoraburahani-Sagasahi East iron ore block was approved by the Centre, the Jhunka-Patriposi block, which is at the G3 exploration stage, is yet to get Central clearance.
