State government has directed the authorities of Biju Patnaik University of Technology  to distribute the degree certificates to the students who have passed out to avoid their harassment while searching for a job.

Principal Secretary Skill Development and Technical Education (SDTE), Laxmi Narayan Gupta has asked BPUT Vice Chancellor Shyam Sundar Pattnaik to take necessary steps in this regard latest by February 15.

Gupta stressed that the certificates were essential documents for the students to be eligible to apply for jobs.

He also sought an Action Taken Report (ATR) from the VC, sources said in the State Government.

Notably, nearly 59000 students of 2013, 2014 and 2015 batches have not been provided their Degree certificates as a result of which they are facing harassment while the University authorities have not been able to conduct convocation since 2013
