Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department postponed the scheduled second dolphin census in Odisha as it (census) was disrupted due to windy and strong waves in the sea on Friday.

The dolphin census, which was being conducted across all the coastal divisions of Balasore, Bhadrak, Rajnagar, Puri, Chilika and Berhampur, will be conducted afresh at a later date.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) SS Srivastava said a new date would be decided on February 15. Wildlife officials said census teams faced difficulties in counting of dolphins in Bhitarkanika and Chilika due to strong waves.

Nine census teams had been constituted for conducting enumeration drive in as many locations.
