Cuttack, Feb 19: Cuttack city police on Thursday arrested one more associate of the arrested brothers, who allegedly was involved in the 2013 incident of abduction and murder of Dipu Mallick and Om Prakash Swain.
“We have arrested one Subhendu Das alias Peenta of Bidanasi area,” said Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora adding, the accused was associated with the mafia brothers for the last five years.
In another development, another relative of a murder victim on the day approached the police apprehending the hands of Dhalasamant brothers in the murder of a pulses trader of Malgodown here.
Md Farooq, who was trading with pulses in the biggest wholesaling market here, was shot dead in November 2014.
Meanwhile, a plea by the Commissionerate police for a voice sample test of arrested gangsters Dhalasamant brothers still pending in a lower court here, the hearing on a PIL seeking CBI inquiry into their political link could not be taken up by the High Court.
Sources said though the PIL was listed for preliminary hearing on the day, it could not be taken up due to paucity of time.
Similarly, the SDJM court here has reserved its verdict after completion of hearing on the police plea for a voice sample test.
