Bhubaneswar, March 3: Government is emphasising on expediting the process of industrialisation and trade for which massive reforms have been brought in the industrial policy 2015, said Industry Minister Debi Prasad Mishra at a programme here on Wednesday.

Due to reforms in industrial policy 2015, Odisha is now the leading state in field of investment, Mishra said during an annual conference of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

Along with making single window system, the State government has applied the technologies like online application, e-biz and aapaa for easy setting up of the industries. The use of mobile apps has also made it more easier, said Mishra while attending the workshop titled “Doing Business in Odisha”.

The government is now focusing on the pharmaceutical, chemical, textile, apparel and food processing sectors. On the other hand, efforts are underway for extension of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME). While Steel production rate is 50%, the production percentage in aluminium sector has reached 20% in the State. The entrepreneurs should come forward in establishing the allied industries along with the large scale industries, he said.

The minister has discussed with over 100 industrial institutions about investment in Odisha during his visit to Israel and UK recently and during the period more than 20 firms have expressed their interest for investment in the State, Mishra said during the workshop.

Industry Principal Secretary Sanjeev Chopra, who attended the workshop, informed about the new system undertaken by the government for growth of industrialisation in the State.

A special industrial security force will be deployed for beefing up security in industrialisation sector, said Home Principal Secretary Asit Tripathy.
