Bhubaneswar, March 15: Criticizing the inauguration of drinking water projects on Monday, the Bhartiya Janata Party demanded a white paper on scarcity of drinking water in State.
A party statement said the water scarcity across State has begun to haunt the people even before the hard summer arrives and the claim of Chief Minister that every village in the State will be provided pure drinking water by 2020 is a ‘hollow promise.’
Only eight per cent villages in the State get piped drinking water in the State and most of the bore wells are defunct during the summer months, it alleged.
The State government should publish a White Paper on functional bore wells and other details about its plans in the Assembly during the Budget session, it added.
