Bhubaneswar: April 23: Insurance will cover the crop losses of the farmers of Odisha in case of natural disasters and all. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers in Odisha will be able to avail crop insurance at a nominal premium of 2 per cent and the rest of the premium burden will be shared by the State and the Central government.
Government will set up three clusters for disbursement and settlement of Insurance claims and also, finalise three Insurance companies to do the insurances of crops. As said by Manoj Ahuja, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, “Government has already selected 3 Insurance companies for this purpose as well as the six clusters have been finalised to move ahead. Only, we have to sign the agreement and finalise the modalities’.
