OHRC asks action on the report of the injured girl of Dhenkanal

Bhubaneswar, July 22: Minu Behera, a class VI girl of Badasahi UP School in Dhenkanal district had suffered injuries due to the falling of school roof slap on her on November 28, 2014. The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has asked the state government to submit action taken report within two months regarding this incident and to also pay Rs 20,000 as compensation to the girl under Parjang police limits in the district. In its order passed on June 28, the OHRC said the victim suffered injury for no fault of her, but for the faulty construction work.

The Hearing of the case will be held on September 8.

On the very next day of the tragic incident, Sangita Swain, Human Rights campaigner had filed a petition before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The case was handed over to the OHRC on December 22 2014, by the NHRC. On December 21 2015, the OHRC sent a notice to the district administration regarding the incident.
