5 deaths due to diarrhoea; Health minister reviewed the Palama situation today.

Bhubaneswar, July 25: A meeting was held at the Rayagada circuit house by Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Monday, to discuss the status of diarrhoea situation in Palama in Kalyansinghpur block area in Rayagada district, where he reviewed the matter along with the district collector and other concerned officials.

After reviewing the matter, the health minister directed the authorities to make ensure that 24 hour healthcare facility is provided to the people along with pure drinking in the diarrhoea affected areas.

A team has been deployed at the district hospital and doctors from state level have also been assigned to help them, Nayak informed.  To tackle the situation, Health camps and MHUs have been arranged. Water samples of the affected areas are being tested daily, he further added.

Meanwhile, the diarrhoea death rate has gone up to 5, with one more death case from Palama Panchayat. Till now, more than 30 people are undergoing diarrhoea treatment.

A team of Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) would visit the affected area of the Kalyansinghpur block, as the stool test also revealed the presence of the cholera bacteria, informed the director of RMRC.
