Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: Today morning thousands of students mostly girls of the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) started a road blockade from the campus to Sikharchandi thus protesting against the alleged ‘rape’ of a girl student of the National Institute of Fashion Technology amidst high-security, just 500 meters away from Infocity police station, last night.

They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits by identifying them through the CCTV footage. The annoyed students pointed out that although the victim was crying out for help still the security did not bother to rescue her. The incident is likely to have taken place at 2 am when the girl was returning to hostel with her friends. The girls were chased by the rapists, who took the victim to a nearby lonely place. As a result, some girl students were also threatened by their hostel warden to stay inside their respective rooms or else they would be barred from appearing in the placement interviews.

After the Banki outrage, this mishap has raised eyebrows at the same time raised fingers on the security system of a reputed institution in the state.
