Puri, Aug 30: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has submitted an affidavit to the Orissa High Court regarding the progress of Jagamohan repairing work. As per the ASI, till now no significant progress have been seen in the repair work.

Till now a part of the pillars of the main structure work have been finished. To proceed for the further repair work ASI has asked to the Shri Jagannath temple Administration (SJTA) for providing necessary materials and equipment.

Final designs from IIT, Madras, regarding the remaining repairs work is yet to be received by the ASI, informed ASI.

Notably, the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had submitted a supplementary affidavit in the Orissa High Court on August 17 in response to a public interest litigation (PIL). In which SJTA claimed that, except the de-plastering work of Jagamohan and grouting of the Jagamohan drain, no other repair work regarding the main structure has been carried out yet by the ASI.

The Court had asked the ASI to submit details of the finished repair work and the remaining works, after it verified the counter affidavit filed by the SJTA. The next hearing will be held on August 29.

The Court had also ordered ASI to hold a meeting with Srimandir Managing Committee and the district administration for completion of repair work in time.
