Mogadishu, Nov 1: At least 10 people were killed in two explosions that rocked a hotel in the Somali capital on Sunday.

Heavy exchange of fire took place between the security forces and Islamist al Shabaab gunmen who stormed inside the hotel.

Al Shabaab, which has frequently launched attacks in Mogadishu in its bid to topple the Western-backed government, was behind the assault on the Sahafi hotel where government officials and lawmakers stay.

Notably, 224 passengers and crew members of a Russian flight were killed when ISIS extremists shut it down near Sinai in Egypt on Saturday.

However, Egyptian minister on Sunday dismissed ISIS claim saying technical fault caused the crash.
