Berhampur, Sept 16: Yesterday a woman named Nirmala Sahu was arrested for selling country liquor at Dhapagaon under the K Nuagaon police limits in Ganjam. It was done so as eight persons had allegedly fallen sick on consuming the liquor sold by her. The police also seized 23 litres of country – made liquor from her possession. This information was given to media by Sun-divisional police officer of Chikiti, PK Jena. The victims had complained of suffering from vomiting and diarrhea and were immediately hospitalized into the Community Health Centre but were later shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here. It’s stated that three of the victims got discharged while others are still undergoing treatment.
The husband of the accused is also to be found guilty. He remained at large after the incident and said that adding couple was selling liquor in the area illegally.
The seized 23 litres of liquor would be sent to laboratory for examination, the SDPO informed.
