Chandipur, Sept 20: Jointly developed Barak-8, surface-to-air ballistic missile has been successfully test fired from the launch pad-3 of Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, today at 10.13am.
The missile has been developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Israel Aerospace Industries and Israel’s Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure.
Weighing around 2.7 tonnes and 4.5 meters length, Barak-8 can hit the target within 70 km radius and can defend airborne threat. It can also intercept supersonic aircraft and missiles.
