Posters of students backed by Congress for upcoming Students’ Union poll torn in Utkal University

Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: The posters put up for the upcoming Students’ Union election by the Congress backed students was found defaced and torn in the Utkal University campus.

Demanding immediate action and identification of the culprits involved in the incident, the irate students gheraoed the office of university vice-chancellor Ashok Das. However, the stir was withdrawn by the students after Das assured action against the culprits.

Notably, on Wednesday, the decision to conduct students’ union election in the Utkal University this year was taken by the PG council of the University.

Ranjan Bal, PG council chairman had informed, that a notice to conduct the union election on September 28 has been issued by the council. However, if there is any case of untoward situation in the varsity, then a decision to cancel the elections has also been taken by the council, he further said.
