Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: After two days of long marathon discussion, the Mahanadi water issue again came back to stall Odisha Assembly today with the prevailing pandemonium by the Opposition parties. Soon after the House assembled, members of BJP and Congress rushed to the well and protested against the speech of chief minister Naveen Patnaik on the burning issue. Opposition chief whip, Tara Prasad Bahinipati climbed atop the reporters’ table while shouting slogan against the chief minister. Unable to run the question hour, Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House till 3 pm. Both Congress and BJP alleged that chief minister Naveen Patnaik is not keen to resolve the issue. Echoing similar view, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said the House wanted to know government’s future plan to safeguard Odisha’s interest over Mahanadi. BJD, on the other hand, held Opposition members for disrupting Assembly proceedings.
