Railway accident at Kathajodi Station of Odisha: Two died and several injured:

Cuttack: September 30: Four officials on Signal duty have been suspended by East Coast Railways (ECoR) authority after the Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak DMU rammed into a stationery goods train at Kathajodi station near Cuttack of Odisha on Thursday evening.

Suspended officials are loco pilot Sanatan Das, Assistant loco pilot Jyoti Ranjan Das, loco inspector Upendra Kumar Behera and senior goods guard P C Sethi.

Two GRP officials Amulya Mohanty and Ranjit Das died in the spot where as many of the passengers suffered injuries.

East Coast Railway officials said, an enquiry committee will be formed soon to investigate under what circumstances the incident took place. Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered a probe into the incident and assured a strong action against the erring officials. Sixteen injured persons are undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital and 19 persons have been discharged after first aid, hospital sources said.
