Angul, Oct 5: Yesterday Angul district and Sessions Judge Court granted bail to the owner, Rushav Kumar Tripathy of the ill-fated bus which caused the Athamallick mishap killing 19 passengers. It’s stated that Rushav had been arrested on Sept 23 despite having all valid documents. In protest against his arrest, Angul bus owners’ association had observed a dawn-to-dusk bandh two days after his arrest. Representatives of All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association, on Sept 26 met the Transport Minister, Ramesh Majhi and served him a deadline to withdraw the case against Tripathy by October 6 failing which they would launch an indefinite strike from October 7. The association had again observed a 24-hour bandh on September 29 pressing for fulfilment of their demands.
